Taiwan concert pianist to perform in Taipei and Tainan
Renowned Taiwanese concert pianist Rueibin Chen (陳瑞斌) will be performing in Taipei and Tainan, presenting works of past composers he admires. Chen announced his plans during an exclusive interview for RTI on Thursday.
Chen says he will perform Erich Korngold’s music which draws inspiration from Austrian and Hungarian fairy tales. Korngold was the first composer to score a Hollywood film. Chen says he will also play Taiwanese composer Chiang Wen-yeh’s (江文也) piece “Formosan Dance”.
Chen says his own upbringing was very similar to that of Korngold and Chiang, who both left their hometowns when they were young and grew up in Europe. He says that’s why he highly appreciates their compositions.
Chen will perform his repertoire “Fairy Tales Fantasy” on November 15 in Taipei and December 10 in Tainan.
